In 2022, 41 high schools, primary schools and kindergartens were newly renovated, expanded and established, adding 60,000 education quotas. There are 880 schools of different varieties and of different levels (excluding kindergartens), among which 26 are universities and colleges. There are 1,781,800 students are university and college students, among whom 292,700 are higher education students , 365,100 are graduates , among whom 76,000 are higher education graduates. The number of full-time teachers is 119,500. At the end of 2022, there are 1015 kindergartens in total in Suzhou, an increase of 49 over the previous year, with the enrollment of 377,500 children.
After-school service is accessible in all compulsory education schools. 4-star ordinary senior high schools are available in every district and county within the city. Zhangjiagang was awarded the pioneer county(city, district) to build balanced and high-quality compulsory education in the nation.
Suzhou spares no effort in promoting the integrated development between the city and prestigious universities. All C9 universities and colleges have made significant layout Suzhou. The Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University initiated its first enrollment, Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research Institute of University of Science and Technology of China sped up its construction, and Suzhou Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology signed the agreement to settle down. Northwestern Polytechnical University Taicang Campus and the first phase of Soochow University Future Campus have been put into use successively.
