Official data released on July 30 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) show that the average per capita disposable income of Suzhou residents in the first half of 2024 stood at 40,210 yuan, increasing by 4.2% year-on-year (similarly hereinafter) and the per capita living expenditure of local residents was 23,474 yuan, up by 6.9%.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the per capita disposable income of Suzhou’s urban residents increased by 4.0% to 45,090 yuan while that of rural residents grew by 5.5% to 25,047 yuan. Meanwhile, the per capita living expenditure of the city’s urban residents rose by 5.8% to 25,907 yuan while that of rural residents grew by 12.8% to 15,917 yuan.
Statistics show that in the first half of this year, the national per capita disposable income stood at 20,733 yuan, a nominal growth of 5.4%, and the per capita living expenditure was 13,601 yuan, a nominal increase of 6.8%. The per capita disposable income of Jiangsu residents was 27,795 yuan, up by 5.0% and the per capita living expenditure was 16,689 yuan, up by 7.3%. The per capita disposable income of residents in Suzhou was 1.45 times as much as that in Jiangsu Province and 1.94 times as much as that in China.
