Zhenghua Middle School re-leased 67 short optional courses for students on October 20. Nearly 800 students in Grade One and Grade Two were involved.
Aiming to promote cultural liter-acy, scientific spirit, patriotism and international perspective among young students, these short courses focus on 12 key areas including liter-ature appreciation, scientific think-ing training, general knowledge in medicine, social communication and mode of personalities.
There are 34 optional courses for Grade One students and 33 courses for Grade Two students.
Students were required to regis-ter for the courses they are interest-ed in online at the beginning of Oc-tober. Many of them found that they had to turn to other courses as their preferred ones were fully booked after their return from the National Holiday.
These courses last merely one hour each time, and happen only once a week. After 4 to 8 weeks, stu-dents could receive 4 to 8 credits, if they were evaluated as qualified. Then they could register for other short courses as the chosen one fin-ished. It is required that one student should earn at least 12 credits with short optional courses each term. (Suzhou Daily)
